I am pleased to announce that the Nov 2019 edition (Vol 16 No 1) of the Gestalt Journal of Australia and New Zealand is now available for ordering here
As you can see this issue of the Journal is woefully late – usually due in late November. The material present at publication time did not represent a viable offering either for amount of content or economically, although the early offerings were of high quality. Some later offerings and initiatives have overcome those limitations, and in fact have aided coalescence into a theme around considerations of issues of training and education in Gestalt therapy.
The original purpose of GJANZ was to encourage writing in our region. Given the changing professional association and training centre landscapes, the pool of local contributors is shrinking. Yet what they have to say is worth considering whether it’s about philosophical or theoretical implications for practice, case studies, or addressing social issues. As the editor, my role is support writers to develop their offerings in terms of presenting an engaging presentation for readers that is coherent and cohesive. This collaborative process is mostly beneficial for authors and myself – I learn a lot, and so can our readers.
For many writers, the most difficult experience happens after publication, and as a Canadian colleague once said “like throwing a marble into oatmeal”. All contributors provide contact details, and if an offering speaks to you contacting them would be affirming. It is also true that the version published through INFORMIT which lists individual articles is frequently accessed globally, and generates a small income for GANZ – so it’s reassuring that there are people that are interested.
At present, I have no material for the next issue due in May. Please write or encourage others to offer a draft.
